Selene Mejia is a mother of four and a student at Southwestern College. She is working towards her degree in Spanish to facilitate her goal of becoming a professional translator for the court system. Selene recently wrote “This will help me to accomplish my dream and start working as soon as possible. Now that I am older I understand the meaning of a degree and how important it is to be prepared for the future. . . I want to show my kids I will succeed for them.” Selene faces many challenges in balancing her role as a mother, a student, and the only breadwinner for the family. This scholarship will help ease the financial burden for Selene and her family.
