At Soroptimist International of Coronado, we take an active role in supporting our community. In our
Soroptimist pledge, we promise to put forth our greatest effort to promote, uphold, and defend our
ideals of helping those most in need wherever they may be found, in our home, in society, in business,
for the country, and God.

We realize there are many ways to offer support. Our primary aim is to provide monetary support
through scholarships and donations to local, national, and international organizations and charities that
advocate for women, girls, and children. In addition to providing funding, we take up monthly
collections on behalf of organizations that need special items that may include clothing, toys, food, gift
cards, personal hygiene products, children’s food, and clothing, or items needed by active-duty military
women.

We invite you to join us in helping others in our community, locally and worldwide, by:

To gift by check please make payable to SIC, fill out this form online and print, and mail both to the address below.

By supporting Soroptimist International of Coronado, you leverage your gift in many ways. We
believe that education is the key to the empowerment of women and girls, so we provide scholarships to
individuals and local institutions and to finalists of our district and national scholarship competitions.
After observing programs and performing due diligence, we fund programs at local, national, and
select international organizations that advocate for women, girls, and children. These also include a
special category of focus: human trafficking prevention, education, and survivor services. We also seek
opportunities to partner with other service organizations to fund projects we could not accomplish ourselves fully. Join us in supporting women and girls, and in turn, lifting families and the world!

THE ART OF GIVING ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

We raise money once a year through our Art of Giving annual campaign, held online and through
mailing. Because of our low overhead, most admin costs of the club are covered by our dues, so 100% of proceeds of this campaign go to scholarships and grants.

  • WIRE FUNDS TO SIC: Wire Instructions
  • MATCHING GIFT FROM YOUR EMPLOYER
  • MAKE A DONATION FROM YOUR IRA
The IRS requires that all taxpayers begin taking minimum distributions from Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA) in the year they turn 72. This is known as the required minimum distribution, or RMD. RMDs are treated as taxable income with one exception: people who gift their RMDs directly to charity. Funds must come from a traditional IRA account, Inherited IRA, SIMPLE IRA (inactive) or an inactive Simplified Employee Pension IRA (SEP-IRA). ***Important! Your gift must go directly to the charity – if you cash it out first, you will have to pay the tax and then claim a charitable deduction (if itemizing). Your IRA administrator can process the transfer for you by check or wire transfer.
  • MAKE A GIFT IN YOUR WILL OR TRUST
Legacy gifts are simple and flexible to support you in how you want to give. The most common
form of planned gift is a bequest from a will or trust. Bequests may be a fixed amount (such as $10,000), a percentage (such as 10%), or a remainder after all other specific bequests have been distributed. Real property, such as residential real estate, may also be used in a charitable bequest. Sample language to add a bequest to a will or trust: “I/We give and bequeath $xxx, xxx (or ___% of my/our estate) to Soroptimist International of Coronado, a 501 ( c) ( 3) organization , EIN #33-
    0257314.”
