Brittany is currently am working as an EMT but is also certified as a CNA/RNA. She has taught EMT skills at a local community college, combining her experience as a K-12 educator and her passion for helping others.

As a registered nurse, Brittany hopes to work in an emergency department at a trauma center. She enjoys the variety of patients who come from all walks of life (homeless, geriatric, pediatric, etc.) and enjoys helping them all in a variety of ways. Brittany especially takes pride in the care she has been able to provide to veterans, the homeless, and those from crisis centers and rehabilitation centers.

Providing victims of domestic violence with the care that makes them feel comfortable and gives them a few moments of relief and safety soothes Brittany’s soul. Brittany particularly enjoys working with patients who have substance abuse issues and psychiatric disorders; treating these patients with dignity, equity, and respect.

As a nurse, she will be able to enhance the way that she cares for all patients from all backgrounds.

This award will make it possible for Brittany to finance her nursing program. Without it, there is a possibility she may need to drop out of the program in order to work and provide for her family due to unforeseen circumstances that have arisen during her journey.
