This year’s Live Your Dream Scholarship award winner is Denise Armendariz. She is a full time single Mom to three young children, an employee and a student.

Denise wants to be a role model to her children and wants them to be proud of her.  She dropped out of school at age 16 to get married and after her second child became the first member of her family to attend college. She describes a challenging life that did not have education as a priority. Her husband was not supportive of her going to school and life became even more challenging for her when she became a single Mom.  She has worked with special education children for five years and her career goal is to achieve a degree in special education and will be transferring to UCSD in fall, 2015.
