Tippy Thibodeau has been a member of Soroptimist International of Coronado since 1990. Her good friend Linda Pipes, a local hairstylist and business owner introduced her to the Soroptimists. During her years of membership in SIC, Tippy has held the offices of Club Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Director, and Delegate.

Growing up as a Navy Junior, Tippy traveled and lived in many States and overseas bases as her U.S. Navy Supply Corps officer father was transferred from place to place. After receiving a degree in Elementary Education from the University of San Diego, Tippy met and married her husband Dick Thibodeau, US Naval Dental Corps, in Yokohama, Japan in 1962. Her travels continued with numerous military duty stations until settling in Coronado. Tippy taught ESL for the Coronado Unified School District Middle School and Adult Education for 12 years before retiring.

After joining SIC, Tippy quickly took on the responsibility of the Club’s archives as the Historian. A position she was honored to hold for many years. Her membership in a service club was a good balance for her busy life at home as a wife, mother of 5 children, and eventually 12 grandchildren. She enjoys her involvement with a local investment club, long-time affiliation with a Ladies Church group, serving as past publicity chair for the July 4th Committee, and volunteering for various community events.

Being a member of Soroptimist International of Coronado has always held Tippy’s interest for the varied scholarship fundraisers and the many “hands-on” projects involving women and girls. Receiving recognition as Soroptimist of the Year, Tippy commented, was an honor she will always appreciate it as she continues her service to the club.

Congratulation Tippy…and honor well deserved!!!
