Responsibility is education for the children living in the dirt-floored shacks around Tijuana, Mexico, and Matagalpa, Nicaragua municipal dumps. They operate preschools/kindergartens, a computer lab for children and adults, art classes for aspiring artists, and a place for tutoring. (Most parents are not capable of helping their children with homework assignments.)

Responsibility works with the neediest children, along with their families, to help promote education and thus improve their personal, family, and community livelihood. When they first meet up with the children, many of them have been forced into child labor to help their families survive.
